Maruntheeswarar Temple :

Located at 4 km from adayar which is one of the famous temple in east coast road. Building of this temple dates back to 11th century. People believe Saint Valmigi the author of the Epic Ramayana had visited this temple. Special poojas are made during the festival time. Time : Morning 6 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. Evening 4 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. This Temple is situated in Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai - 41. Ph : 24410477.

Prarthana Drive-in Theatre & Restaurant :

World’s First Open air Beach Drive in Theatre Complex. Show Time 6.30 & 10.00 p.m. Entry : Car Rs.60/-Gallery Rs. 30/-. Situated in Injambakkam which is about 6 kms away from Thiruvanmiyur. East Coast Road, Injambakkam, Chennai - 41. Ph:24491402, 24491692.

Shirdi Sai Baba Temple :

After Prarthan Theatre to reach this Temple. Built by Shri Shridi Saibaba spiritual and charitable trust almost all the deities are installed. The Tri Murthy Brahma Vishnu and Siva statutes are also here besides that of Thattariya, Lingam, Parvathi, Durga etc. This is the first temple out of 108 built on the initiatives taken by the Guruji of Delhi temple and the IPS officer C.P. Satpathy. Feeding of the poor takes place every Sun. & Thu. The Aarathi is performed at 6 am to 9 p.m. Situated at Saipuram, Injambakkam. Ph : 65684808.

Cholamandal Artists Village :

8 km from the south of Chennai. Founded in 1966, by K.C.S. Paniker. This is a village established by the community of various artists for production and display of various artifacts such as sculptures, bronzes, icons and paintings. It is situated on the East Coast Rd at Enjampakkam, Chennai - 600 041. Entry free. No holidays. Time : 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Ph : 044-24490092.

VGP Universal Kingdom (VGP Golden Beach) :

VGP Universal Kingdom is the one stop tourist destination in Chennai, set against sylvan surroundings, fascinating beach front lush greenery and beautiful layours that are soft on the feet. Jagannathan temple :

An exact replica of the Puri Jagannath Temple. Those who have not been to Puri can take a look at this temple. The temple is situated at Kannathur on ECR about 20kms from Adyar. For the onlooker the shrine resembles a replica of Puri temple. The complex is built by Sri Jagannath Spiritual Educational Cultural Trust.

Mayajaal Multiplex :

Dakshina Chitra :

Adjacent to MGM, is the Dakshina Chithra Complex run by Chennai Craft Foundation where you could see the models and replica or traditional houses and other art-facts. folk performing arts and craft of Tamilnadu and the rest of South India. It was opened to the public in December 1996. Muttukadu, East Coast Rd. Entry Fee : Adult Rs. 50/- Child Rs. 25/- Time : 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday holiday. Ph : 27472603.

Muttukkadu Boat House :

23 km from Adyar. Wind Surfing, Canoe, Kayak, Pedal Boat, Row Boat etc., are available for the public.It is located at a distance of 80 Kms from Kanchipuram. A Good Place to get away for a day. The Backwaters of Muttukkadu have been developed by the Tamilnadu Tourism Development Corporation to serve as a picnic spot and a centre for water sports.Training and demonstration programmes are organised for beginners. Thameem Ansari Baba Darga :

A devoted follower of the words and deeds of Prophet Mohamed was born in Medina. Soon after his demise, and as per his last wish, his mortal remains were put in a coffin and immersed in the sea. However, it reached the shores of Kovalam beach. Thus came into being the holy shrine of the muslim Saint Thameem Ansari Baba. The first Thursday after full moon day is observed as a day of devotion. Go-Karting

The thrill of getting behind the wheel of a four-wheel drive, even if it just a go-kart cannot be explained. It has an out-door karting centre worth spending an hour or two at with the family and can be found at Kart Attack, 101, ECR Road, Sholinganallur, Chennai- 600 119. Ph : 24530386, 32990000.
   

Covelong Beach :

This is a small fishing village 40 kms from Chennai on the Mahabalipuram Road. There are the remains of a fort which now functions as a luxury beach resort. Facilities for windsurfing and swimming are available here.

Nithya Kalyana Perumal Temple :

Which is 10 minutes drive from Mayajaal along ECR. 42 kms from Chennai. This holy shrine is one among the 108 temples called Tirupathy. The presiding deity is holding her on the left side. So it is called Thiru-Idathu-Eanthai which over a period of time came to be called as Thiru- vidanthai. Tamil Saint Thiru Mangai Alwar has sung the glory of this holy place in ten places in his famous ‘Pasuram’. There are several messages relating to this is available in the stone scripture of first Raja Raja Cholan and Vijaya Rajendra Cholan. Garuda Sevai during the Tamil month of Aani, Pooram during the month of Aadi, Spring festival during the month of Vaigasi are the important events. Time : Morning 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Evening 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Crocodile Bank :

44 kms from Chennai. There are various pits in this centre. Thousands of crocodiles and alligators from all over the world found here. There is also a tribal society which runs a Snake Venom Extraction Centre. Timings : 08.30 hrs. to 17.30 hrs. Admission by entry fee. Adult Rs. 10/-, Childrens Rs. 5/- Telefax: 044-27472447.

Alamparai Fort

Two-hour drive down the East Coast Road (100 km) is Kadapakkam. Turn eastwards into the narrow village road and drive for about 3 km till you cross a small bridge. After this, the road turns into a sandy track. A few hundred yards after a right turn at the next fork takes you to the ruins of Alamparai Fort. The significence of the fort is displayed on a green board at the entrance. The board gives us a peek into the history of th eruins of this 18th Century fort. One can experience the majestic fort from the back waters even better. There are many local fishermen who are more than happy to take u on a boat ride around the fort in the back waters for a mutually agreed amount.
